I've been reading Snow Crash by Neal Stevenson, again... (last time I made it through like 1/4th of the book.) When I came back through it this time that first quarter sure did sink in better.
I had promised I would finish by well tonight and I'm not even half through.
December 1st, 2013:
Finished it. Pretty great. The reasons that I'm not more impressed than I thought I'd be is that the subjects he covered were subjects I'm already completely enthralled in... babel, the creation and spread of the pentecostal religion, natural deviation of language, code, computers, virtual spaces, sumerian & assyrian language and religion, how one might think if back in that time... I think this was also the reason that when I talked about many things I was always thinking about people would commonly ask, "Have you ever read Snowcrash?" Now I know why.
The list and book review will go on... one day I may do another speed read as I tend to really pay more attention the second time.
I'm completely stoked that I finished it at all, finally. I start a lot of things and never finish them, trying to break that habit.
